About

A senior front end developer with over twelve years of industry experience, specialising in building high-performance digital experiences for the web. I have successfully delivered projects for prestigious clients including the United Nations, NASA, and leading global corporations, working with London’s top agencies and innovative startups.

Throughout my career, I have progressed from developer roles to technical leadership positions, providing architectural guidance and supporting other developers. My technical proficiency is predominantly in the React ecosystem, with a strong focus on TypeScript, modern CSS frameworks, headless CMS/API integration. However, I have also worked with a variety of other technologies, including many JS frameworks, Node.js and PHP.

Experience

Senior full stack developer at Project InnerSpace

    September 2024Present

I am currently architecting, designing and building the next version of the GeoMap GIS app, currently rebuilding the UI to create an easy-to-use and responsive app that can be used on any device. I contracted specialised GIS backend engineers to firstly design and build a system to upgrade the existing static JSON data structures to use a fully-fledged catalogue & API with PostGIS searching. Secondly to create a full GIS data pipeline to tile, store, and access tiling assets. What previously took days now takes hours.

The suite of apps utilises React, React Router 7, and Mapbox technologies, with the backend built on Supabase and PostGIS. I collated requirements from stakeholders to define the roadmap and features of the app, created Figma designs and wireframes to inform the development of the app and provide options for stakeholders. Each app and package includes end-to-end testing and CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality and reliability.

Front end developer & architect at Civic Space

    October 2023February 2024

I architected, designed, and built the front end of the Civic Space prototype React & Remix web app. Working closely with a small team of developers, I integrated satellite imagery and data visualisation elements into a user-friendly interface that met the specific needs of civil society organisations whilst balancing development time constraints.

One of the key focuses during the development process was data and API security, with the team taking extensive measures to ensure that user data was protected at all times. To avoid vendor lock-in and ensure data security, we made use of open source libraries and self-hosted solutions.

Senior front end developer at Parallel

    AugustNovember 2023

As the sole developer, I worked on the development of the OVO Energy Dashboard for COP28, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The dashboard was built using the React Remix framework and the Recharts D3.js based charting library to create visualisations using a bespoke graphing library. All content was stored in a bespoke Sanity CMS component-based system to allow granular content changes in the future.

Lead front end developer at More Air

    JulyAugust 2023

I delivered a rapid and time-sensitive build of a site for Cobot, a US robotics start-up, to announce their Series A funding round and spur further funding initiatives. The site was built with React using the Remix framework, Sanity CMS, styled with Tailwind, and extensively animated with Framer Motion.

Senior front end developer at Founders Factory

    MayJune 2023

I returned to the Founders Factory site, working with the design, marketing, and tech teams to add more UI components. I upgraded the core architecture to use modern web technologies and restyled the entire site to a new revamped design.

Lead front end developer at Browser Group

    JanuaryMarch 2023

I was promoted to Lead Front End Developer, where I provided technical analysis to directors and planned project architecture. In this role, I made initial moves to overhaul developer tooling, developer processes, and hiring practices. I continued to work on front end projects for Aalto and Ohealio whilst establishing strategic technical direction for the team.

Senior front end developer at Browser Group

    May 2022January 2023

I built and architected both the Ohealio and Aalto projects, making extensive use of Next.js, TypeScript, Sanity headless CMS, and Storybook. I also hired, interviewed, and managed freelance developers to support these projects. Additionally, I worked on legacy projects using Laravel, Vue.js 2.0, and GraphQL.
